There’s a moment that comes in every new chapter — a quiet inner nudge that says it’s time.
- Time to grow.
- Time to contribute.
- Time to step into something new, even before you know exactly what it will become.
Lately, I’ve been feeling that nudge around volunteering.
I wanted to be of service in a way that felt aligned with my heart, allowed me to gain new experience, and supported the gentle growth of the businesses I’m building. Volunteering has always been part of my life, so this felt like a natural next step — something new to weave into 2026.
And then… the Universe moved quickly.
A simple thought: Where could I volunteer?
A local newspaper article spotted while grabbing a coffee.
A quick online search.
A visit to Seek Volunteering.
One opportunity that stood out.
An expression of interest sent.
A phone call five minutes later.
All within about half an hour — and in between entertaining two of my grandsons.
I couldn’t help but smile. Because I’ve learned that when we get clear on intention and take even one small step, the path has a way of revealing itself faster than we expect.
Why Volunteering Matters
Volunteering isn’t only about giving time.
- It’s about connection.
- Learning.
- Building confidence.
- Discovering new skills.
- Opening doors we didn’t even know were waiting.
Sometimes the role we volunteer for becomes a bridge — to new friendships, fresh purpose, career opportunities, or deeper self-trust. Sometimes it simply reminds us how powerful it feels to be of service.
